Ian Gee is a member of the ‘Headway - the brain injury association Head Injury Solicitors List’. Ian has undertaken Headway training and works within the Headway Personal Injury Lawyers Code of Conduct. This Code is to ensure the relevant experience in the field of brain injury and that anyone can have confidence in the quality and expertise of their chosen firm and its commitment to addressing their particular needs and circumstances.
The Code is as follows:-
Should when dealing with service users/carers conduct themselves in a manner, which upholds and enhances the reputation of Headway and the other firms of solicitors featured in the list.
Should not claim to have specialist skills or experience, which they do not possess.
Should not pressurise Headway Groups and Branches to endorse or recommend the services offered by the firm.
Should provide Headway service users/carers with a free initial consultation to answer any questions they may have, provide them with appropriate information about the firm and to allow them to make an informed choice.
Should not put undue pressure on Headway service users/carers to appoint the firm to act on their behalf and should recognise their right to consider other solicitors prior to making a decision about who should represent them.
Should act in the best interests of the service users/carers and not make excessive or unnecessary charges.
Should keep themselves up to date with current law and undertake regular Headway training to help them fully understand the needs, issues and aspirations of service users/carers.
Should recognise that service users/carers are often coping with extremely distressing circumstances and provide them with the respect and sensitivity required at such times.
Should recognise their duty to avoid sexual, financial, emotional or any other form of client exploitation. In particular, they must not use their professional relationship to establish or pursue a sexual or improper emotional relationship with a service user.
Should respect the privacy and dignity of the service users/carers and not make approaches within the hospital setting, which might be interpreted as applying undue pressure on Headway service users/carers.
